In 2008, Yann-Gaël travels for the first time to Central America, discovers its riches, its culture and its complexity. From a random conversation, a strange idea comes to his mind. This idea twists the ordinary axis of the way we comprehend the world and allows them to meet on the artistic scene.

More than a mere musical project, it is about capturing certain political, social and cultural issues.

The transcontinental project is born.

It has been shaped with the use of samples from traditional calypso musicians (collected by YGP) in order to recreate an innovative electro music as well as a genuine cultural dialogue, overcoming the flaws that might be encountered in fusion.

The TNL Calypso was an opportunity to collaborate with the Conservatoire de Chambéry and to participate to a professionalisation program for students by inviting them to collaborate all along the tour and to play on stage on an international scope in Costa Rica.

The « transcontinental Calypso » has been created in 2011 for the occasion of the arrival of the Transatlantique Jacques Vabre. It was then presented in its definite format in San Jose in 2012 in front of more than 26 000 people.
